This post is dedicated to my favourite gels & gel creams.Best suited for oily, sensitive and acne prone skin. 

Best for gentle daily Lightweight hydration

COSRX Green Tea Aqua Soothing gel cream

Pros: Beautiful combination of centella, green tea and panthenol. Very lightweight, soothing and hydrating. Best used in the summer. One of my favourite gels overall. 

Cons: there is no sealing ingredients in the formula, so it situations of dry environment it should be used under a more occlusive moisturizer. 

The facetheory Supergel Moisturizer – oil free

Pros: Very lightweight, gentle and suited for oily sensitive skin. Lovely texture and consistency. Rich in soothing and hydrating ingredients, easy to use during the summer. 

Cons: It’s a bit pricey and works slowly (but surely) in getting any hydration and brightening effects.

Honourable mentions # Lightweight Hydration

Purito deep see water

  • Pros: elegant formulation, multitasks for hydration and brightening
  • Cons: because it multitasks, it ends up working slower in both effects 

Youth to the people Air Whip

  • Pros: very lightweight humectant-based moisturizer, pleasant fragrance
  • Cons: Not suited for sensitive skin, it contains fragrance and several actives with potential for irritancy

Best for Dehydrated skin

Neutrogena Hydroboost Aqua Gel Creme

Pros: the best hyaluronic acid moisturizer I found and happens to be very affordable and easy to find. And it is fragrance and essential oils free. 

Cons: I have not found one.

I’m From Vitamin Tree Water Gel

Pros: very tick hydrating gel, rich in niacinamide and brightening properties. My skin complexion looks at its best when I use it. One of my holy grail moisturizers for Summer. 

Cons: Humectant based, not best suited for very cold dry climated as it does not have many ingredients to seal in the hydration. Best used for Summer/spring or high humidity environments. It also takes time to absorb into the ski, best used at night. 

Best for Brightening

Dr.G Red blemish clear soothing cream

Pros: One of my absolute favourites, specially when recovering from severe acne breakouts. It not only soothes the skin and helps reduce the inflammation, but also has a very effective power in healing the acne scars, as it is rich in Niacinamide and Centella. 

Cons: I don’t find any.  

Honourable mentions # Brightening

Beauty of Joseon Dinasty gel creme

  • Pros:very powerful brightening effect, very elegant texture
  • Cons: heavy on emollients, can feel a bit imbalanced. Best suited for combination skin.

Best for Acne Care

Benton Aloe Real Soothing Gel

The best aloe vera gel I found – gentle, elegant,free of fragrance and alcohol. A must-have staple for my body acne routine. Ideal for skin that needs hydration and does not tolerate any emollients. 

Some by mi AHA BHA PHA Real Cica 92%

Pros: very elegant soothing formulation that combines centella, tea trea oil and chemical exfoliants, making it effective on acne fighting.

Cons: the tea tree oil + exfoliants makes this cica gel not so soothing and can cause some irritation. 

Honourable mentions # Acne Care 

Good Molecules BHA Moisturizer 

  • Pros:gentle summer care for acne prone skin, very lightweight and effective
  • Cons: it contains tea tree oil, not everyone tolerates that 

I’m From Mugwort moisturizer

  • Pros: gentle and antinflamatory moisturizer
  • Cons: it has an oily finish, better suited for combination skin

Some by mi AHA BHA moisturizer

  • Pros: effective moisturizer for acne 
  • Cons:the consistency feels a bit tacky, it contains AHA, BHA and tea tree oil – not suited for sensitive skin

Benton Aloe Propolis gel:

  • Pros: the propolis in it helps with red acne inflamation
  • Cons: pricey if we compare with Benton  Real Cool Soothing Aloe gel
